Week #2 - Monday
Shelter in Place - Full Week #2
2 parents working at home2 kids in school at home with e-learning/distant learning
Mr. Jack is technically on spring break this week.
- Flash back to last week - Jack did assume with remote learning!!! He has been focusing so well on tasks. He has the entire kitchen and kitchen table to himself from 8 AM to 3 PM. I am so happy to him thrive in this experience.
- Google classroom helps him find his assignments
- The Google calendar helps him track his assignment
- He focuses and completes his tasks when working in a room by himself
- The music in the background helps too!
I was worried about him starting middle school in the fall. No so worried any more.
Ms. Abbie is working hard at staying on task. Her school is not providing as much instruction for the children as Mr. Jacks school. Her school is depending on the parents to be teaching the skills.
This is what is driving my frustration.
How are full-time working parents suppose to be teaching their child and working during the day? Abbie is start, but she still needs to be taught. Don't get me wrong, i am thankful for teachers and everything they do, but how can I be expected to this. I can teach. Many people thought I should have been a teacher, but I choose a different plan.
I think i will choose to teach home-economics over the next few weeks.
Things we will learn:
- how to wash dishes by hand
- how to mow the lawn
- how to use the leaf blower
- how to cook with more than a microwave and toaster oven
- how to put clean clothes away (they already do laundry)
- how to empty the vacuum
- how to de-clutter
It is only Monday
I am already exhausted
The shelter in place is still new
I know science is the answer, but I hope and pray we have already reached the peak.
😔
The photo is from 2 years ago, but shows my kiddos personalities so well!
